41-pound cat in North Texas needs home

5-year-old 'Skinny' now living in shelter

RICHLAND, Texas (AP) — A North Texas animal shelter has a 41-pound fat cat named Skinny who needs a home.

Officials at the Richardson Animal Shelter are caring for the 5-year-old orange tabby. The stray animal was dropped off at the facility last week.

Shelter spokeswoman Noura Jammal told The Dallas Morning News that Skinny is the biggest cat she's ever seen. Jammal said Thursday that Skinny is very sweet and loves to have his belly rubbed.

But Jammal says Skinny has some health problems, including diabetes, due to his hefty weight. The cat has trouble walking because he's so large.

Skinny has been placed on a diet while shelter officials try to find someone to adopt him.
