RESEARCH DIRECTOR

REQUIREMENTS: WDTN and WBDT LIN Media Dayton’s Duopoly (DMA 63) has an exciting opportunity for a Research Director to serve our NBC and CW affiliates, as well as one of the market’s leading media websites.  This position oversees all research functions including the practical application of resources from Nielsen, Marshall Marketing, Kantar, Comscore, TVB Wide Orbit and other tools to expand the sales and marketing effectiveness of our brands in the marketplace.  Candidate must be a self-starter, detailed oriented and have strong communication skills, written and verbal, as well as good presentation skills.  College degree preferred. Keys to this position include daily interaction, problem-solving and team-building with account executives as well as sales, news, programming, promotion and executive management.

Bachelor degree or equivalent experience and 3+ years of media research experience preferred.

NEWS DIRECTOR

WDTN-TV AND WBDT-TV, the Lin Media duopoly in Dayton, Ohio is seeking an experienced news professional for the position of News Director.  The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience in leading and supervising a multiplatform news staff.  Our News Director will be a strategic thinker, who can help grow content quality and drive ratings on every platform.  They will be innovative and forward-thinking, and have the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

Applicant must have at least five years of experience as a multiplatform news manager.  College degree in journalism or communications preferred.

 Motion/Print Graphic Designer

JOB SUMMARY: Oversee every phase of graphic design for WDTN/WBDT-TV. This includes day-to-day administration of the identity and look of our station brand. Design news and station animations that coincide with the look of the on-air product. Assist in graphic design for multiple levels of wdtn.com/daytonscw.com. Design any print collateral needed for newspaper, magazine or event program pieces.

TYPICAL DUTIES: Conceptualize and create all on-air graphics for news department. Work with promotion department in developing animations and promos that coincide with station brand. Assist with commercial production with any animations or graphics needed for potential clients. Assist with WDTN/WBDT-TV station tent for events that we are a media partner. Conceptualize, create, and assist sales department for any potential sales collateral. Create and produce any print pieces for newspaper, magazine or program pieces. Create and produce any web graphics for wdtn.com/daytonscw.com. Oversees all station photography for talent, staff, and other projects.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced Photoshop, AfterEffects, and Illustrator experience required. Self-starter able to complete projects at a high quality level in a timely manner. Must be able to work on various projects simultaneously and to deliver finished projects on deadline. Must have highly effective communications skills. Must be highly organized. Animation, LightWave, DEKO, non-linear editing, and strong technical knowledge.

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE: Performance will be evaluated by the Creative Services Director.

NEWSCAST DIRECTOR

WDTN-TV is looking for a full time Newscast Director. Candidate should have experience directing fast paced newscasts with multiple live shots and extensive graphics use, as well as directing experience in other production areas. Experience using the Grass Valley Ignite control room automation system and Photo Shop, Avid and Deko Cast preferred. Editing on Edius system is a plus. Candidate may be asked to direct programming or events other than newscasts. Applicant must be a creative, team player with excellent communication skills. Should also be able to work effectively under pressure and be able to multi-task. Employee must be able to complete digital assignments such as updating web content and social media outlets. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.

Photographer - News

WDTN-TV is seeking a highly-skilled Photographer.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for shooting creative and compelling video and sound for airing on TV newscasts and other media.  This photographer will also be responsible for editing content and operating microwave and/or satellite trucks.  This position will take direction from the assignment desk but must also gather stories on his/her own. A photographer must meet multiple daily deadlines and handle breaking news situations.

Ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year experience, knowledge of non-linear editing equipment, iNews and Windows.  Candidate must also be adept at lighting and composition of product, possess strong communication skills and have the ability to multi-task and work in a collaborative and creative environment. Must have valid driver’s license.
