Household hazardous waste collection event scheduled

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Montgomery County Solid Waste District in cooperation with the City of Dayton is sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste collection event Saturday August 6, 2011 from 8:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Stadium Parking Lot D, 1801 S. Edwin C Moses Blvd., Dayton, OH 45408.

This event is free of charge and open to all residents of Montgomery County. Proof of residency in Montgomery County is required and absolutely no hazardous wastes from businesses, schools, organizations, or commercial entities will be accepted.

Items that are accepted during the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day include: herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, mercury, flammable liquids, fire extinguishers, household propane cylinders, household cleaners, pool chemicals, paints and solvents, and batteries and light bulbs of all types.

Explosives or radioactive wastes are not accepted.

For questions regarding items please call the Montgomery County Solid Waste District at (937) 225-4999 or the City of Dayton at (937) 333-4800 Residents may also visit www.mcswd.org for more information on the County's Household Hazardous Waste program.

Montgomery County would also like to remind residents they may bring in Household Hazardous Waste items free of charge every Saturday to 1001 Encrete Ln. in Moraine and every Tuesday to 6589 Old Webster St. in Vandalia between 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
