LEBANON, Ohio (AP) - A driver suspected of leading police on a chase, striking and killing a sheriff's deputy and running away is in custody in southwest Ohio.
Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims says the suspect's speeding vehicle struck 36-year-old Sgt. Brian Dulle as he was putting out stop sticks Tuesday morning. Sims says Dulle is the first Warren County deputy killed in the line of duty.
Authorities say the suspect ran from the crash in Turtlecreek Township, about 35 miles northeast of Cincinnati. He was arrested hours later walking along a road.
Sims would not identify the suspect at a news conference Tuesday in Lebanon.
Police say they started chasing the suspect's vehicle in Franklin. Sims said he could not provide details Tuesday about the suspect or why he fled police.
