DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Safety concerns tied to Sandy forced the cancellation of trips to Washington D.C. four schools had planned through a company out of Celina called K & K Tours. Those schools are in Mercer, Champaign, Auglaize, and Logan Counties.
Monday night we caught up with Tiffany Kimbley from Graham Middle School in St. Paris and her mother Cherri. Both were disappointed they weren't on their way to D.C., and Cherri expressed concerns like other parents who contacted us today that she'd lose her deposit.
2 NEWS called K& K Tours and spoke with one of the owners who said she is hopeful the trips can be rescheduled for March or April. Regardless, parents without travel insurance won't get their money back.
Kathy Macwhinney said, "We are under contract with our suppliers and they clearly have that it's non-refundable and non-transferable. It was a major step for them to agree to try and move the trip one point, and also the expenses for all of these suppliers is prepaid."
Macwhinney who co-owns K & K Tours with other family members said her company will absorb any additional costs that might come with rescheduling the trips. She is asking parents not to contact her directly and let her company work with the schools and vendors to try to arrange trips for next year.
