ST. MARY'S, Ohio (WDTN) - St. Mary's firefighter Joe Frilling took part in the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb challenge in Seattle Sunday.

Frilling climbed the stairs in honor of his late cousin, Luke Moran, who lost his 16-month battle with Leukemia at the age of 16; and also for his grandmother, Mary Triplett, who has been fighting Multiple Myeloma, a type of Leukemia, for more than ten years.

The Scott Firefighter Stairclimb is a timed race to the top of downtown Seattle's Columbia Center.  The climb involves competing in full fire gear and racing up 69 flights of stairs, 1,311 steps, and 788 feet of vertical elevation.

You can donate to the cause by visiting this website .

All proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
