BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WDTN) - Update: Joseph Lee Knox was arrested at a Springfield area motel just before 6:30 p.m. without incident.
-----------
Logan County Sheriff deputies hope a dirt bike might lead them to an escaped jail inmate.
Joseph Lee Knox slipped away from the Logan County Jail Tuesday, August 14. He was on corn-picking detail at the time. Deputies believe he's been busy since his escape, burglarizing a home and stealing a dirt bike.
The first victim says she came home Tuesday night to find a shattered window.
"We came in, our garage is our basement, so we came in, we parked, pet the dogs, then my son noticed that my husband's tool chest had drawers open in it," said Wendy Levan, burglary victim.
They had a handgun and ammunition taken from a gun safe.
The sheriff believes Knox is connected two other incidents as well, including the stolen dirt bike. It was found near a Champaign County home on North Ludlow Road.
Deputies are hoping to find the owner of the dirt bike. Call the Logan County Sheriff's 937-592-5731 if you have any information about Joseph Lee Knox.
