Holiday and snow prompt good deeds

MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WDTN) - No good deed went unnoticed Thursday, especially in the midst of the holiday and a major snow storm.

Folks across the Miami Valley kept the Christmas spirit alive and helped others fight the ice and snow.

Freezing temperatures and a snow covered van could have prevented Vicki Henn from making it to work Thursday morning, but  thanks to her husband she was able to make it to Lowes in Beavercreek.

"He cleared it all off and started up the engine so it was warm when I was ready to leave," said Henn.

Henn said her husband helps their neighbors whenever it snows.

"When my husband does our driveway and sidewalks, he does our neighbors as well.  They are elderly."

Vincent Richardson also helped those in need when the cold weather hit.  He said he couldn't help but notice a few homeless people near  AFIT where he attends graduate school.

"I saw homeless people holding signs so I was able to give a couple of dollars on my way," said Richardson.  "It made me appreciate what I have.  Its all about giving and that is what I wanted to do."

Mike Charrington's good deed happened more towards Christmas, and to his fellow employees at Bob Evans in Fairborn.

"I worked around the clock to help my store managers out and make sure that everything was ready for Christmas eve," said Charrington.
