Ohio Senate leader discusses '13 plans

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Workforce training and education funding are among the issues the Ohio Senate plans to take up next session.

The No. 2 Republican in the Ohio Senate said Thursday that while the policy agenda was still being decided, he expected legislators would be incredibly active next year.

State Sen. Keith Faber of Celina told an audience at a post-election forum that senators would be studying how to simplify the state's tax code while not raising taxes. He also said they plan to review higher education and K-12 funding.

The state's two-year budget will likely be the focus of much debate.

Faber also said leaders should work in a collaborative way to change how political lines are drawn.

District boundaries are drawn every 10 years to reflect population shifts after each census.
