GRATIS TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - A family escaped it's burning home in Preble County after flames broke early Friday morning.

Firefighters from five different areas were called to battle the blaze in the 300 block of Ada Doty Street in Gratis Township around 3:00 a.m.

Fire officials said a woman lived in the home with her mother and father, as well as her two young daughters.

When they arrived, fire officials said they found heavy fire shooting from the first floor doors and windows.

We're told one woman who lives in the home went back inside to grab belongings, something fire officials warn people never to do.

The fire is still under investigation.
