EATON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Preble County jury reached a mixed verdict in the murder trial against a local businessman.
The jury could not reach a verdict on a count of murder against Joseph Kutter, but he was found guilty of tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. The judge ruled a mistrial on the murder count.
Joseph Kutter is accused of shooting Bobby Jo Grubbs as he searched for ginseng on Kutter's property. The shooting happened in June 2012. Grubb's body was found several days after he disappeared. It was under a pile of brush on Kutter's property.
Kutter had "no trespassing" signs posted on his property and police say there was a history of trespassing problems there.
Ginsing is a valuable herb that can sell for $400 a pound.
