Family speaks out after loved one found dead

NEW PARIS, Ohio (WDTN) - The Preble County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the case of a missing Eaton man.

Joseph Kutter, 78, was arrested Saturday night from his business, Kutter Construction, off state route 40 after deputies found the remains of a man on his property. 

Family members identified the body as their loved one, Bobby Jo Grubbs who had been missing since May 26. 

On Saturday, about forty people including law enforcement,  Preble County CERT members, and members of the Buckeye Search and Rescue Team scoured the area looking for Grubbs.

"Deputies found his body wrapped in a tarp," said BJ Phillips, who is the victim's aunt.  "I believe he (Grubbs) was killed in one location and then moved to another location.  Investigators haven't told us how he was killed."

Grubbs was last seen by his mother who dropped him off near Fleenor Road in New Paris.

"He was searching the property for a pricey plant called ginseng," said Phillips.  "His mother grew concerned when he never came home that night." 

Deputies had been searching the wooded area and farm fields ever since Grubb's cell phone made two calls to 911.

Kutter is being held in the Preble County Jail on a single murder charge.

The remains were taken to the Montgomery County Coroner's Officer where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death and positive identification.

The Preble County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the incident.
