What is awesome? Local teen on Jeopardy

ENGLEWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - In the category of Game Shows, this is the one that Tori Amos and her family would watch every night.

"What is Jeopardy?" says Northmont High School sophomore Tori Amos.

But Monday's show was a little different.

Tori wasn't shouting out answers at the TV because she already knew them after making her debut on the show during the Jeopardy Teen Tournament.

"I was really nervous but when I went there I wanted to have fun," Tori says. "I didn't want nerves to consume me."

Tori's road to the Jeopardy stage started in the classrooms of Northmont High School, where your answers don't have to be in the form of a question.

"I'll be the only one on screen but I think a lot of people went into this," Tori says.

Tori was part of the school's academic team that's won a pair of state championships and even a national championship in the last few years.

"To have the opportunity to have a student like Tori to be able to demonstrate how smart our kids are is a great opportunity," says Academic Team Adviser David Jones.

When it comes to the category of Rooting Interests, this is how Tori's classmates feel about her appearance.

"What is very supportive, very excited and a lot of them can't wait to see it?" Tori says.

Stumping Tori is tough. About the only question she can't answer is what she wants to do in the future.

"My plans are to just get through high school I guess," Tori says. "I don't have anything set in stone yet."

But she does know what she wants to do with any winnings she may get.

"Besides buying a cat, which I really want, lately I've learned a lot about Belfast so I want to travel there," Tori says.

In the category of Jeopardy Appearances, this is how Tori sums up her experience.

"What is amazing?" Tori says. "Just absolutely amazing."

Tori's episode airs on WDTN Monday at 7:30. If she wins she'll be on later in the week in the tournament semifinals.
