DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The convicted killer who was on parole when police said he shot and killed a Dayton teen Sunday i s back in custody following a brief manhunt overnight.

Police said Dameon Wesley was involved in a two vehicle crash at Falmouth and Holyoke avenues Monday night, and that he fled the crash on foot. Multiple police units combed the surrounding neighborhoods looking for him until he was finally caught on Prescott Avenue near England Avenue around 1:20 a.m., according to Dayton Sgt. Richard Blommel.

Police have been searching for Dameon Wesley since a shooting Sunday on Home Avenue.  A 13-year old girl, Briona Rodgers , was killed.  Another teenager was critically wounded.

At about 7:00 am, as Wesley was walked from police headquarters to the Montgomery County Jail, he seemed to suggest he deserved to be caught.

"There's still good guys up in the joint that deserve their freedom," he said to 2 NEWS photographer Bear Everett, "I'm just not one of them, I guess."

At a later appearance in Dayton Municipal Court, Judge Carl Henderson set bond at $2 million.

Wesley, who is being represented by public defender Kelli Howard, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 8.
