AAA: Gas prices rise 31 days straight

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Folks across the Miami Valley will feel the pain at the pump Monday morning, after gas prices have risen for 31 days straight, according to AAA.

The average prices of gas in Dayton is $3.77, according to www.daytongasprices.com . Meanwhile, the national average is $3.69

Overnight, we found gas for $3.77 at the Speedway on SR 725 in Miamisburg. Regular gas was $3.79 in Dayton at the Speedway and UDF at Stewart and Brown Streets.

Experts said four percent of our gross income is now spent on filling our gas tank. For people who need to drive-- higher prices mean taking money from other parts of the budget.

Economist Alan Gin said when our economy is struggling to get back on its feet, higher prices can knock our recovery off track.

The U.S. Department of Energy suggested these tips:

• Drive more efficiently-- you should avoid rapid acceleration which can waste gas.
• Keep your car in shape.
• Plan and combine road trips-- carpooling can stretch your latest fill-up.
• Choose an efficient vehicle.
