DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Ohio's texting and driving ban takes full effect on Friday.

The six-month grace period is over.  State troopers and police have been issuing warnings to people caught texting while driving.

You'll get a ticket come Friday that will cost you $150.00.

Texting while driving is a secondary offense for adult drivers.  Officers must stop you for something else first, but teenagers are another story.

It is banned for all drivers under 18-years old.

AAA is kicking off its Don't Text and Drive billboard campaign Tuesday that will remind motorists of the new law.

And, our own Wait to Text campaign is an ongoing effort in local schools to warn young drivers about the dangers of texting while driving.
