KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - Kettering firefighters are investigating a house fire.
Heavy smoke was coming from the home in the 1200 block of Southlyn Drive when crews arrived around 4:00 pm.
Preliminary information suggests the fire started in the basement.
One person was home at the time, but escaped without injury.
Vectren crews were also called to the scene.
"It's routine for the utility companies to show up at fires and give us an update and assistance if needed," said Asst. Chief Tom Butts, Kettering Fire Department.
The fire isn't considered suspicious, but crews are still trying to figure out exactly how it started.
