DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - ODOT has announced two road closures for Dayton as part of the I-75 Modernization project.

Beginning Monday, March 4, 2013, First St. will be closed from Robert Dr. to Red Cross Ln. in downtown Dayton.  This will be a 24-hour a day closure until September 2017.

Officials with ODOT have mapped out an official detour for drivers. Drivers coming from the west, the Salem Ave. Bridge, are encouraged to take a right onto Robert Dr., a left onto Third St., then a left onto Wilkinson St., to get back onto First St.

The second closure will only occur nightly; however, is expected to effect more people.

Beginning at 8 pm Monday, US 35 will be closed in both directions at the I-75 overpass.  Approximately 70,000 drivers pass through this section of highway daily.  It will be closed from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.  The road will re-open March 16, 2013.

Officials with ODOT have mapped out an official detour for drivers.  Drivers are suggested to get on I-75 south, take the Edwin C. Moses exit, and get back onto the interstate heading north to access the 35 east and west ramps.

ODOT is reminding drivers to reduce their speeds and be on high alert when passing through work zones.
