Price's family reacts to murder charges

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - "That was my child. My son and I miss him," says Saprena Riley.

She's still trying to cope with the murder of her son Dante Price.

"I just wanted justice for him," explains Riley.

She says now she's one step closer to that after the Montgomery County Grand Jury decided Wednesday to charge two former security guards, Christopher Tarbert and Justin Wissinger, with Price's shooting death at the Summit Square Apartments in March.

"They were not police officers. They did not have any special arrest powers, authority or privileges beyond what a normal citizen would have," comments Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr.

"You can't take matters into your own hands and use your position to take someone's life," explains Riley.

A memorial now sits in the spot where Price was gunned down. His friends who live there and witnesses, who don't want to be seen on camera, have a message for the two men now charged with his murder.

"You need to sit and suffer to realized that you took somebody's child, father, brother, nephew, friend. You need to sit and suffer," says Price's friend.

Price would've celebrated his 26th birthday next week. His mother says she never could've imagined celebrating it without him.

"I wouldn't wish this on anybody. The pain," comments Riley.

Price's mother wouldn't comment on whether or not she also plans to file a civil lawsuit.

Tarbert and Wissinger's next court appearance is scheduled for July 26th.
