MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - Nearly 100,000 people rely on the Miami Township Police Department every single day, according to officials.
A 5-year, 5-mill police services levy failed in November, but trustees voted to put another one on the ballot in May.
In the meantime, the Miami Township Fraternal Order of Police president told 2 NEWS that the township was in discussions to shutter the police department and contract out police services to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He says union members will do whatever is necessary to save the police department.
There will be a meeting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Government Center on Lyons Road. If you live in Miami Township, FOP members urge you to come and voice your opinion.
