TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - A man is hit and killed while walking on Salem Avenue overnight.

The collision occurred around 1 a.m. in the southbound lanes of SR 49 just north of Olive Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol says 30-year-old, Henry Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene after a 2006 Buick Rendezvous, driven by a Clayton woman, hit the man.

Troopers say Jones was walking in the roadway wearing dark clothing after he crashed his car into a Trotwood welcome sign and fled the scene.

No charges are expected against the driver of the vehicle that struck Jones.

The crash remains under investigation, though alcohol is suspected of being a factor.
