Parents upset over school heat problem

CLAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Some parents in the Northmont School District brought their frustrations to 2 NEWS Tuesday evening.

A heat problem at Northmont Middle School Tuesday morning has them up in arms.  The parents say they didn't find out about the problem until several hours after the heat was turned back on.  That's when they say they received a recorded phone message from the school's principal.

The message said the heat's blower went out Monday night, but was repaired by 10:00 am Tuesday morning.

The principal also said the school's temperature never went below 55-degrees.

One parent we spoke with by telephone says that call should have come earlier.

"My son, Michael, who has Down Syndrome, but also he is fighting leukemia.  So, the thought of him sitting in a cold classroom all day when he just got back to school because he fought a cold all week last week, is kinda irritating to me.  I would've liked to know because I would've went and got him, says Jennifer Bridenbaugh, parent of two Northmont Middle School students.

We placed calls to the school's principal, but have not heard back.
