Man shot on Christmas Eve in critical condition

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Police are investigating after a man is shot inside a Dayton apartment complex on Christmas Eve.

Officials stated the shooting happened around 10:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of James H. McGee Boulevard Monday.

According to officers, a black male in his 40s was visiting a woman in the building when someone shot him once in the leg.

Police stated the victim staggered outside and drove himself to Good Samaritan Hospital. Crews found him there and transported him to Miami Valley Hospital where he was immediately taken into surgery.

The victim has not been identified. He is listed in critical condition.

Police stated they are in the process of talking to witnesses. They said the woman he was visiting is being cooperative in the investigation.

Officials are still trying to identify a motive and a suspect in the shooting.
