DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Dayton funeral home under investigation by the state has suddenly closed its doors.
A recorded message at the Magetti-Gavin Funeral Home on Valley Street says it is no longer in business as of March 8.
The Ohio Board of Embalming and Funeral Directors says the home had until Friday to pay $11,500 in fines stemming from two cases, one involving fraud allegations. The board was investigating whether the funeral home properly paid an insurance company for a prepaid funeral service.
A board spokesman says collecting the fines now could be impossible since the home relinquished its operating license.
