DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Montgomery County Democratic chairman Mark Owens tells 2 NEWS Clayton Luckie has submitted a letter indicating his intentions to withdraw from the race for the 39th district seat in the Ohio House of Representatives.

There will be a special meeting at 4 p.m. Sunday to pick a new candidate ahead of Monday's deadline to replace candidates on the ballot for the General Election in November.

Owens tells 2 NEWS Fred Strahorn and Rhine McLin are interested in taking Luckie's place on the November ballot.

Luckie's withdrawal from the race comes just a day after Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Ron O'Brien confirmed an on-going investigation involving Luckie. No other details were given.

Published reports indicated Luckie is about to be charged for "unethical" behavior.

The "Columbus Dispatch" cites sources who said a criminal charge against Luckie is expected at any time. The paper did not specify why.

2 NEWS called Luckie Thursday, but he did not answer his phones.
