Is fall more sinister than stumble?

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Police are investigating whether a woman's fall down the stairs early Monday morning was an accident or the result of a push.

2 NEWS was at the scene in the 300 block of Pleasant Street as police went through the house and talked to some witnesses, including family members and others who were inside the home at the time.

Police say a mom came home from work and ended up in an argument with her teenage son.

That mom, who police think may be in her late 30's, then fell down about 13 stairs, hit her head and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in critical condition.

Her son was interviewed downtown by detectives.

What they were called in to figure out is whether that woman just stumbled or was pushed, which would make this a crime.

Police believe the woman had been drinking, which may also have played a role.

Detectives say they were called a few days ago to deal with an incident between the woman and her boyfriend but that he wasn't involved at all in this case.

They weren't sure yet if they had handled any other domestic incidents involving the woman.
