Help restore the Junior ROTC program

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) - The Huber Heights Cadet Foundation is hoping to raise $145,000 to restore the Junior ROTC program at Wayne High School.

Parents and community members created this non-profit organization after the Huber Heights City School Board voted last month to cut the program.
They're trying to raise money at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Huber Heights.  10% of your purchase will go towards the fundraising efforts.

"Understand how important this organization has been. It's been around 37 years, something like that, and all of the community events that it does for the community and also for the children.  It gives these young leaders a place to mature and to grow," says parent and fundraising coordinator Jerry Proctor.

145 cadets were apart of the program, it was one of the largest Junior ROTC programs in the state.

They've donated more than 1500 volunteer hours, last year alone.

And now, they're hoping the community will return the favor.

"It gives us a thing to do, to keep us off the streets.  It makes us better.  It makes us learn, service before self, integrity first,. excellence in all we do.  It teaches us discipline.  It just makes us, individually better," explains Junior ROTC Cadet  Lt. Col. Sean McDonnell.

The fundraiser runs until 1 A.M.
