TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Trotwood man was formally charged with killing his girlfriend in a drunk driving crash.
The Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office handed down an indictment Thursday against Ryan Hayes, 31.
Hayes was indicted for aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Investigators say Hayes drove his car into a construction zone on Hoover Avenue in September 2011 and struck a piece of equipment. Hayes was seriously injured, but the impact killed Qadriyyah Harvey, 33.
Investigators determined that Hayes was drunk at the time.
He faces up to 8-years in prison. He is scheduled back into court February 7, 2013.
