DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Bullet casings are still in the parking lot of Vault Nightclub on North Jefferson Street.  The same spot where Aundric Kerley,23, was shot and killed Thanksgiving night.

Police say there was a fight before the shooting.  Marshall Cooper was brought in for questioning and arrested on an unrelated felony warrant the night of the homicide, according to police.

But, so far, no arrests have been made.

"It is time that we call a truce to the terrible homicides and the rate of homicides, that seem to be picking up again in this community," says Reverend Jerome McCorry with the Adam Project.

Kerley leaves behind two young children.  Family members cried and comforted one another as Rev. McCorry  called on the community to stop the violence.

"We want the city and the citizens to understand that if we are serious about ending this stuff, you need to find one of these groups, one of these organizations or your local church.  You need to step up and get involved so we're teaching our young people another way and a better way of doing what needs to be done," explains Rev. McCorry.

Loved ones released balloons; not only to remember, a  father, a brother, a son, who's life was cut tragically short but also a prayer that no other families have to go through this heartbreak.

"We offer prayer for this family and for this community.  We also ask God to help us stop the needless murders that are taking place in this community," comments Rev. McCorry.

If you have any information on the homicide, call CrimeStoppers at 222-7867.
