Getting around at the Grande Illumination

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Officials are preparing for a Dayton holiday tradition and it could mean headaches for drivers downtown.

The 40th annual Dayton Holiday Festival will get underway Friday afternoon. At 8 a.m. Friday, crews shut down 3rd Street between Main and Ludlow so that vendors can set up for the street fair, which starts at 4 p.m. and runs through 9 p.m. The fair includes food booths and free rides for children.

At 3 p.m. officials will close 2nd Street between Perry and Vista View. That's where you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride or watch the children's parade, which starts at 8 p.m. after the lighting of the holiday tree.

At 5 p.m. Wilkinson Street will shut down between Second and 3rd Streets as well as Ludlow Street between First and Second Streets.

At 7 p.m., closures will happen along Second, Third and Wilkinson as well as Main, Fourth, Red Cross Lane and Stafford Streets.

You will be able to get to the arts garage for parking during these closures.
