DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A fire at a Dayton home led to a surprising find Wednesday night.

Crews were called to the Maryland Avenue around 9:30 on reports of a fire in the attic.

Once the flames were out, firefighters discovered what officials are calling a marijuana grow operation. Dayton police were called to investigate.

Officials at the scene were not saying how many plants were found in the home, or who may be responsible.

2 NEWS is told the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical and connected to the grow operation.
