DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A former Montgomery County corrections officer now knows the cost off committing a crime.

Malcolm Capps was sentenced Monday for stealing from an inmate.

He will spend five years on probation and will pay restitution.  He also can no longer hold public office.

Capps was convicted of two counts of theft in office in January.

Security video caught Capps pocketing money from an inmate while booking him into jail.
