HARRISON TWP., Ohio (WDTN) - An evening fire in Harrison Township forced residents of an apartment building out into the cold Thursday.

Crews rushed to the 500 block of Daytona Parkway around 7:00 pm.

Firefighters say they quickly put out the flames, but still had to deal with the wintry conditions.

"The main problem tonight here is the ice on the ground.  You know, it's been the sun during the day and it melts the snow and soon as it turns dark it refreezes.  You just had to be very careful with your footing," said Chief Mark Lynch, Harrison Twp. Fire Department

The chief tells us the fire started in a basement dryer.

Everyone was allowed back inside after firefighters ventilated the smoke from the building.

No one was hurt.
