TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - A woman's dog is missing after a fire consumed her Trotwood home early Sunday morning.

The blaze broke out just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of Geis Drive.

When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames bursting through the roof. There were also wires down in the area, which posed a challenge for firefighters.

Firefighters had to call in mutual aid from Harrison Township and Clayton to battle the blaze.

Fire officials said the homeowner and her two children were not inside at the time the fire sparked.

Crews also stated the family's dog was running around in the yard when they pulled up on scene. They said the dog then ran off.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Officials are investigating what caused the fire.

Firefighters said the house appears to be a total loss.
