MIAMI TWP, Ohio (WDTN) - The disciplinary hearing of Miami Township Police deputy Chief John DiPietro was postponed again Tuesday because a witness was unavailable to make the hearing.
An Attorney for DiPietro told the gathered media the Township Board of Trustees granted a continuance to delay the hearing until Perry Township Chief of Police Bob Bowman could be present after the first of the year.
Tuesday’s scheduled hearing was to a continuation of a set of hearings which began in November seeking to discipline DiPietro for an incident involving a naked teenaged girl at the township police headquarters.
DiPietro's attorney reported witnesses testified on his client's behalf Tuesday before he requested a delay in the hearing.
A report issued at the conclusion of the sheriff department’s investigation into the incident, DiPietro acted improperly when he was alone with the girl as he decontaminated her following a pepper spray incident. The report also accused DiPietro of taking a picture of the teen’s tattoo and sharing it with a personal friend.
DiPietro has been on paid leave during the course of the investigation.
The Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office reviewed the case and determined no criminal charges are warranted in connection with the incident.
The internal review process could result in a finding of no action needed, resignation, suspension, demotion or termination.
