DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Montgomery County Democratic Party Central Committee made its candidate endorsements Thursday evening.
Members voted to back Nan Whaley for mayor. They also endorsed Joey Williams and Jeffrey Mims for two Dayton City Commission seats.
The committee says it made its choices based on the candidates' experience and their ability to move Dayton forward.
“Tonight is an important first step, but a long and difficult path lies ahead. As we begin this journey, I ask for your help and for your ongoing support. Together we will make a difference, together we will build a new Dayton and together we will be victorious,” stated Commissioner Whaley.
“I think the Central Committee was impressed with the organization and strength these candidates show. We believe each endorsed candidate is the right choice for the City of Dayton, and we will be supporting them in any way we can,” stated County Chairman Mark Owens.
Whaley has served on the city commission for seven years. Joey Williams will be running for a fourth term. Mims will be running for the seat currently held by Whaley.
