DAYTON INT'L AIRPORT, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton International has been spared as other airports make list of cuts due to sequestration. The Federal Aviation Administration has ordered 149 air traffic control towers to shut down starting in April.
The F-A-A release comes just one day after Congress passed a temporary budget that offered little relief to agencies facing cuts. FAA officials say the closures are tough, but necessary. Others say this is the result of a Congressional feud.
Three Ohio airports made the list. They are Bolton Field and Ohio State Airport in Columbus, along with Cuyahoga County Airport in Cleveland.
2 NEWS spoke with Airport Director Terry Slaybaugh late Friday and found out that not even a shift at the tower will be impacted. He said Dayton Airport is able to meet budget concerns without closing operations at any hour.
