CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) - A Centerville teacher was released from jail Friday night after posting bond. He was arrested on three charges of sexual battery.
Centerville Police tell 2 NEWS they arrested Michael "Mike" Weaver around 3 p.m. Friday.
Weaver was a Government teacher at Centerville High School and a former girls' golf coach.
Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. tells 2 NEWS the victim is a former student at Centerville High School. The alleged crimes happened during the 2005 - 2006 school year.
“High school teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of educating children who are becoming young adults. This defendant took advantage of his position and developed a sexual relationship with a minor student. Such activity cannot be condoned,” Heck said.
Centerville police say the reported incidents did not occur on school property. Superintendent Dr. Tom Henderson says Weaver was put on administrative leave.
Weaver faces 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
Centerville Police are asking anyone with any pertinent information about Weaver and this case to come forward.
Alex Lovett's family says it's a miracle he survived this deadly car crash.
