DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Fifth Street Brewpub will open its doors for a sneak peek just in time for St. Patrick's Day.
The co-operatively owned brewpub will host an open house from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to show off its progress toward opening later this spring.
The event is open to the public and will feature an assortment of hot and cold foods and a sampling of two beers crafted for St. Patrick's Day: a Dry Irish Stout and an Irish Pale Ale.
The Dayton brewpub is the first co-op brewpub in Ohio and the second in the nation, its owners say. The brewpub's HVAC and plumbing systems are now complete. A customized seven-barrel brewery system is scheduled to be installed in May and will allow Fifth Street Brewpub to produce all of its signature craft beers in-house.
As part of its membership drive, the brewpub is offering a "The Year of Beer" gift memberships for $100. Brewpub membership provides access to exclusive events, patronage refunds, and rotating food and merchandise discounts.
A portion of membership proceeds generated during Saturday's open house will be donated to St. Mary Development Corporation , a non-profit organization that works to create affordable housing solutions, primarily in southwest Ohio.
