PERRY TWP., Ohio (WDTN) -

An investigation is underway in Perry Township after a 73-year-old man was struck and killed while riding his bicycle.

It happened just after 5:00 pm as the man attempted to cross Diamond Mill Road at Air Hill.

A damaged windshield shows the impact of the collision between the bike and the van.

Investigators say the driver was unable to see the man until it was too late.

"There is a slight knoll just to the north of it, so anybody who's on the bike path really needs to stop and look and check directions both ways before pulling out due to that hill," said Sgt. David Robison, Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Investigators say the driver is cooperating.

The coroner has not released the victim's name.
