Are things looking up for downtown?

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - As a marketing firm, it's TriComB2B's job to know what's cool.

It's how it comes up with campaigns like a recent one touting cold hard cash and actually showing what it looks like, by encasing a dime in a fake block of ice.

So when it comes to taking the temperature of downtown Dayton, you know they're serious when they tell you it's hot.

"We've got a creative bent and downtown has a real creative movement to it," says TriComB2B co-owner John Buscemi.

So TriComB2B is making a creative move of its own, going from its current spot in Vandalia to offices at Performance Place on Main Street in Dayton.

"Downtown has a new excitement to it now and we're excited to be a part of it," Buscemi says.

Dayton city commissioners approved $90,000 Wednesday to help TriComB2B renovate the offices, which have been vacant for the last few years.

Economic development leaders tell 2 NEWS the investment is well worth it.

They think the move is a sign that downtown is on its way back up.

"I think downtown is really starting to turn a corner," says Deputy Director of Economic Development Timothy Downs. "We've seen much more interest."

But Downs says the work isn't done yet in downtown, although he's hopeful that more "cool" additions may be on the way.

"We've taken a turn and if the economy continues to grow the way it's been showing, we could see a lot more than this," Downs says.

TriComB2B is expected to make the move sometime in the second quarter of 2013.
