TIPP CITY, Ohio (WDTN) -
"We take this seriously. People are being charged. People are going to be held accountable for this. It's a serious offense," says Sgt. Chris Graham with Tipp City Police.
After five separate threats, police have now made arrests for two of them.
A 14-year-old student is in custody for the most recent threat found at Tippacanoe Middle School Wednesday morning.
A 15-year-old student has also been arrested for a written threat found last Wednesday at Tippacanoe High School.
Police say both will be charged with inducing panic which is a second degree felony, as well as aggravaated menacing and disorderly conduct.
Police are still investigating the three other threats, but wouldn't go into detail about them. Only to say that they are relying on the community for help.
" This was a small victory but in no stretch does it mean that this investigation is over or we slow down at all but frankly I think this was good news," explains Sgt. Graham.
Tipp City Schools Superintendent John Kronour says these students will face maximum penalties to send a clear statement to all students.
"You can't do things like this and get away with it and ultimately keep our school district in peril," comments Dr. Kronour.
And people who live here are breathing a sigh of relief tonight.
"It's unnerving to think that, particularly in a town like Tipp City. The things that happened elsewhere, they were all small towns that. You would think wouldbe safe and I have friends who are teachers in these schools and I would hope that everyone would be safe," says Carolyn Russ.
And police are still asking for your help if you have information on any of these recent threats.
