PIQUA, Ohio (PDC/WDTN) - The Piqua man accused of stomping his wife's dog to death said he didn't do it. Gregory S. Mullennix, 42, pled not guilty to a charge of animal cruelty and domestic violence Wednesday morning in a Miami County courtroom.

Mullennix stomped the Pomeranian, Feisty, to death with his boots the morning of Nov. 20, according to Piqua Deputy Chief Marty Grove, then pushed his wife over a couch and onto the floor.

Grove said when his officers arrived at 1433 Covington Ave., they found Mullennix cleaning blood off the floor. Officers said they also saw blood splattered on the walls. At the time of his arrest, Mullennix said he killed the dog because is was old and suffering. He also said the dog had repeatedly bitten him, but police found no evidence that Mullennix was bitten.

Officers discovered the dog had been dumped into an outdoor trash receptacle.

Mullennix remains in the Miami county Jail on a $75,000 bond.
