TIPP CITY, Ohio (WDTN) - Tipp City police mailed a letter Thursday to people who live in the area around Brookmere Avenue and Hampton Wood Drive, asking them for help.
They are trying to find the man they believe tried to take the child as he was leaving a friend's home.
Police say the 12-year-old boy was walking home around 4 Saturday afternoon when a man tried to lure him into his truck. The boy ran but the man followed him in his truck, then got out and chased him behind a house. The boy got away.
Police say the suspect is a thin, middle-aged man with dark hair and a goatee or beard. The truck he was driving is an older, smaller light-blue pick-up truck that could have rust near the bottom and back.
Police are also asking people whose homes are equipped with security cameras to review the footage between 3 PM and 5 PM Saturday.
Police have stepped up patrols in the area.
