Facebook chats land Troy man in jail

TROY, Ohio (WDTN) - A 36-year-old Troy man was arrested Sunday after police say he tried to solicit a 12-year-old girl for sex via Facebook.
Steven Marshall is being held in the Miami County Jail in lieu of a $30,000 cash bond on a felony charge of importuning.
Troy Police say they began investigating the allegations against Marshall when a family member caught the conversation between Marshall and the girl.
Capt. Joseph Long tells 2 NEWS the girl’s profile said she was 17, but her chats with Marshall clearly identified herself as being 12-years-old.
Officers arrested Marshall at his home on South Crawford Street and seized his computer.
Facebook’s terms of use call for users to be at least 13-years old.
