TIPP CITY, Ohio (WDTN) - Ice on the interstate caught one driver by surprise Friday in Miami County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the driver hit a patch of ice on Interstate-75 northbound past the Northwoods Boulevard exit and slid off the road.
The driver missed the guardrail but went down into a ravine, bout 300 feet off the highway, hidden from the view of anyone on the road.
A woman who was following the driver witnessed the crash and stopped to help. That's when a trooper saw her car on the side of road and then realized there had been an accident.
Troopers say even though the driver narrowly missed going into the creek, when crews tried to get the car out, they dropped it in the water.
The driver wasn't hurt.
