PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) - Malisa Delasancha was just 4 years-old when she was killed last April.
Her favorite song was "Georgy Porgy" and she often whispered the sweet words "I love you more" to her mother, Amanda Kolker.
Words Kolker will never hear her daughter say again.
It was a heartbreaking reality that Kolker had to face in court on Tuesday. She also had to face Travis Gauldin, the man responsible for her daughter's death.
"Travis, I took you in my home as a friend," Kolker said in court. "I believed in you. I trusted you."
Last week, 22 year-old Travis Gauldin was found guilty of murdering Malisa while baby-sitting her inside Kolker's Caldwell Street home.
"What was he thinking? Travis deserves life," Courtney Delasancha, Maslisa's aunt, told the judge.
"how could a 22 year-old grown man hold her tiny petite body in his hands and slam her into the wall three times".
It's questions like these that haunt Malisa's family. In court, Gauldin didn't offer any answers.
In a written statement read by his attorney, Gauldin apologized.
"I wish words would explain how truly sorry I really am, but there's nothing I can say or do to bring her back".
Prosecutors said it's not a miracle their looking for, just remorse. Something they don't think Gauldin has shown at all. "He made a comment about the autopsy pictures and he said "I don't see what the big deal is, they weren't that bad".
Miami County Assistant Prosecutor Anthony Kendell pledged in court to be present for every one of Gauldin's parole hearings.
Judge Christopher Gee sentenced Gauldin to 15 years to life in prison.
