Logan Co. court officials making due

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WDTN) - Logan County officials are making the best out of a windy situation.  They're also having a reunion of sorts.

The courts division had to move into the former library after a windstorm made their regular digs uninhabitable.

Logan County Commissioner Dustin Wickersham remembers the very moment the storm came in and destroyed the tower on top of the original courthouse last June.

"When it came through Bellefontaine, it was a disaster area.  There were trees down everywhere.  The city took most of the brunt of the damage," said Dustin Wichersham, Logan County Commissioner.

The storm shifted the tower six inches and they had to move.

"Since that time, we had to move everyone out the building for safety reasons because the tower could fall."

Wickersham says before they arrived here at this temporary courtroom on Sandusky Avenue, the county workers were scattered all over the county causing some confusion.

"One of the nicest things about this building that's kind of been the hardest part where we were before, we were using four different buildings for all the court work that used to be in one building."

Construction and renovations in the building cost $700,000, all of which insurance covered.

This space is much smaller than the previous courthouse and not everything could fit.

"Common pleas, juvenile and probate with the exception of the probation staff, will remain over in the JDC Building and then the common pleas when they have jury trials.  Those trials will still be shared using space with city of Bellefontaine."

Wickersham say no word on when they will open up the original courthouse.
