Teens attack officer, escape detention

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WDTN) - The Logan County Sheriff has now captured all three teens who escaped from the county's Juvenile Detention Center.

The detainees made their escape after attacking a corrections officer Tuesday morning said Sgt. R. Furlong.

Danny Ellis, Jr. and  Devante Smith were arrested at 3: 30pm by Cincinnati Police officers.  Officers also recovered a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero that was reported stolen in Logan County earlier in the day.

Caleb Jacobs was arrested by Columbus SWAT at 5:30pm.  Jacobs, 17, was being held after being picked up on a warrant from Polk County, Fla. for burglary.

Ellis Jr. and Smith, both 15, are charged with probation violation.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of the three escapees is asked to contact the Logan County Sheriff’s Office at 937-592-5731.

The corrections officer was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment. His name and condition have not been released.

Two women have also been arrested in connection with helping the teens escape.  Stephanie Johnson, 30, of  Bellefontaine, was arrested at her home on a obstruction of justice charge.  Catherine Sine, 24, of  Bellefontaine,  was arrested at the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of complicity to Escape.
