BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) -

An elderly woman was rushed to the hospital after being struck crossing a busy Beavercreek road.

It happened on North Fairfield Road just north of Dayton-Xenia around 6:30 pm.

Police say the woman is in her 80's and suffered a head injury.

There was no marked pedestrian crosswalk where she was hit and rain reduced visibility.

"Unfortunately, pedestrians are not always the most visible objects, just like a deer or any other object that's going to come out in front of you, so you just have to always be as careful as possible," said Sgt. Scott Spangler, Beavercreek Police Department.

The car that hit the woman did stop.

No word yet if any citations will be issued.
